Yoga for Beginners
Gentle foundations, plain language, zero pressure.
A place for self care, community, and tranquility. Practice outdoors in the fresh Oregon air and find a quiet sense of oneness with nature.
Atha Yoga Shala is an outdoor studio on the McKenzie, built around three simple things.
Mats roll out steps from the water, with the current setting the pace of every breath.
Unhurried sequences that make room for self care, reflection, and genuine rest.
Small groups of neighbors who show up for each other on and off the mat.

Every class held under open Oregon sky.
First timers and longtime practitioners welcome.
Movement, breath, and stillness in balance.
In the end, just three things matter: how well we have lived, how well we have loved, how well we have learned to let go.

I have been practicing yoga for 18 years and teaching with two 200 hour certifications behind me. Yoga has carried me through every season of my life, and sharing it outdoors is the most honest way I know to give that back.
I moved to Oregon 8 years ago and fell hard for the McKenzie. About 10 years ago my wife Angela and I opened the studio together, and we have been growing it with this valley ever since.
Outside of class you will find me with our three dogs or out chasing live music. Come as you are. There is a mat here for you.

Book Your ClassThe McKenzie runs 90 miles out of the Cascade Range through old growth forest, past waterfalls and trails, carrying some of the clearest spring water in Oregon. Our shala sits along that corridor in Vida, an easy drive from both Springfield and Eugene.
